French stationery manufacturer G. Lalo has been creating social stationery since 1919 and provides stationery to the royal courts of Sweden, Belgium and Holland. Verge refers to the grid of parallel translucent lines (vergeures") that was formed in handmade paper as the sheets were laid to dry (the origin of the term "laid finish.")These grids are very helpful as guides for handwriting.
