It isn’t everyday that a bride describes her upcoming nuptials as a "Halloween-steampunk with top secret birthday surprise." It isn’t even once a year, or once in five years, or ten. In fact, this next invitation suite represents On Paper’s one-and-only Halloween-steampunk wedding invitations with top secret birthday surprise, and we think it’s boo-tiful. (Get ready, there’s going to be a lot of punning around.) We had so much fun working with this couple who really pushed the envelope when it came to their invitation design and we hope couples reading our post will be inspired to do the same. We weren’t especially familiar with the steampunk genre prior to this design, but in doing some research we found it...
Welcome back to our 4 the Love series, featuring invitations from the last year that represent some of our very favorite trends and decadent details. This next one is a true masterpiece, fit for a wedding in the Columbus Museum of Art. And, like a fine painting is stunning from afar and full of delightful secrets up close. Let’s take a look, shall we? At first view, you’re likely struck by the shine and light of the copper foil. (For the record, we still get happily distracted by it.) After you’ve blinked a couple times, take a minute to enjoy the artful mix three different fonts: a modern sans serif, a stately serif for the couples’ names, and a playful...
Welcome to the first of four posts in which we’ll feature wedding invitations from the last year. We’re calling this series 4 the Love partly because weddings are, you know, all about the L-word, and because we genuinely love these four very different invitation suites. We’ll see a modern invitation for a couple getting married at the Columbus Museum of Art, a thoroughly sweet and sophisticated design for an outdoor ceremony and reception, and one that breaks mold for a ballet-infused gothic Halloween wedding (you read that right, and it was even more amazing than it sounds). We’re going to start with a golden example of timeless elegance for a cathedral ceremony and Ohio State House reception. It also represents...
Maybe it’s the cozy afghan blankets we’re snuggled under, or the twinkling lights strung across mantle pieces, or maybe it’s the grown up cider we’re sipping, but the winter holidays seem to bring out the romantics. How do we know? Every January, On Paper’s custom printing department begins to buzz and bustle with newly engaged couples looking for the perfect save the dates and wedding invitations. If you happen to be planning wedding, or are simply interested in design trends, read on for our most popular trends du jour! Marble Marble is the pattern of clicking high heels and oxfords, glinting chandeliers, the falsetto of champagne flutes greeting one another, and happily, it’s found its way onto invitations. We love...
To commemorate On Paper's 20th year, we’ve gone all out and designed ourselves a crest to use early and often. We’ve already unveiled it in our front window and it proudly adorns our shop packaging. While we certainly hope you’ll stop by to see it in person, we can’t help but show it to you here, as well. Celebrating 20 years in style We appreciate the elaborate symbolism reflected in historic crests, shields, and coats of arms, but we hope you'll allow us a little artistic license with our own nod to the pageantry, which was largely inspired by proprietor Joan's recent trip to Italy. Italia, where crests of marble and mosaic abound, and where centuries-old paper mills continue to...
